For each car, you need to select the setting in which the driving tests are to be performed. There are six options here namely Day driving, night driving, outside day and outside night driving, inclement weather and heavy traffic driving. In each of the modes, you need to pass eight exams in total with each passing exam becoming more tougher. Once you are done with passing all exams in all the driving modes, you essentially master the car and can drive it in any situation.

The Challenge Gaming mode is where you are provided different targets for each level. For instance, in one level, you would be required to drive conservatively to save fuel. In a different level, you would be set a target of not making more than a set number of mistakes before you reach your destination. Each mission comes with a set of XP points that can help you unlock a variety of other features in the game. The Free Ride gaming mode is basically your practice zone where you can do whatever you want and get used to every rule without facing any consequence.

The gameplay of the driving game is very realistic and can be frustrating because of it as well. You need to follow every rule in the book. From putting your seat belt on to turning the lights on if you are driving at night and from stopping at every red light to using the right blinkers whenever you take a turn, you would be reminded of every rule by deducting points wherever you make a mistake. Waiting for a red light to turn green can test your patience and you would feel very similar to how you would feel while driving your own car. You can also not crash your car anywhere or go above the speed limit as that also results in loss of points.

The controls in the game get some time getting used to but the customization options prove useful. There are three types of steering controls available while there are also two camera modes available. This means that you can switch to whichever controls feel suitable and whichever angle feels suitable while driving in the School Driving 3D environment. The app has good graphics that provide enough assistance to the gameplay but a bit of realism is lost especially in nighttime driving where the lights are too dim and roads are not well lit.
